Insurance Operations Analyst

Overview
Selective is seeking someone to be responsible for playing a key role in supporting the development, preparation, administration of the Insurance Operations annual budget as well as monitoring and reporting monthly operational and all financial performance metrics. Understands the business needs of the Insurance Operations Unit and partners with other areas (Actuarial, Financial Planning, BSU, etc) to support those needs. This position is responsible for the accurate, timely and relevant business analysis of special projects (i.e., staffing model development, process improvement surveys, productivity models etc.). All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Works with Insurance Ops Management team to assist with the preparation, analysis and distribution of the Insurance Operations annual budget (premium plans & operational expense mgmt) and conducts the monthly tracking and variance analysis.
Acts as a liaison with Actuarial, Financial Planning, BSU and other units in the coordination of special projects for Insurance Operations.
Partner with business and functional leaders to identify and communicate key strategies, initiatives, opportunities, metrics and goals (short term / long term) that effectively drive and improve business performance.
Support business leader's efforts to improve performance by partnering in strategic projects that will either increase revenue and / or reduce costs.
Establish a strong relationship with Ins Ops Mgmt, Actuarial, Financial Planning, BSU and peers.
Partner with Management team to develop, design and prepare documentation to support monthly business requirements. While continually looking for ways for automation.
Design and conduct other complex ad-hoc analysis in support of key business objectives, as necessary
Assist with the coordination, scheduling of annual premium plan meetings, quarterly meetings with Actuarial, Regions and SBU's.
Qualifications
College degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
3+ years experience in the insurance industry analyzing business needs, industry trends and best practice.
3+ years experience in budgeting and planning
1+ years experience assisting with the implementation of projects.
An understanding of financial and accounting concepts and modeling techniques.
Must have strong financial aptitude and acumen.
Ability to identify, interpret and translate business analytics into successful and profitable business strategies
Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, probe facts, identify and question assumptions and analyze issues from different perspective.
Good customer service, networking and relationship building skills.
Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to effectively manage a range of projects in an environment with changing priorities.
Exhibit flexibility working in a fast-paced environment requiring quick response.
Must be detail-oriented.
Ability to design, build and manage financial models. Strong PC skills (i.e., excel, access, macros, lookup formulas, pivot tables, etc.)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
