Health Director (Camp Nurse) - Camp Felix (Sandyston, NJ July 31- Aug 25)

$200 - Sign on bonus (New Hires must complete all clearances by 6/30.
Bonus will be added to first paycheck ) $100, $200, or $300 - Retention bonus (Employee must have perfect attendance during camp.
Bonus will be added to last paycheck depending on how many weeks they work) $50 - Referral bonus (Referred employees must complete the terms of employment) The Health Director works under direct supervision of the Camp Director to achieve Camp Felix goals and objectives by providing on-site medical care to staff and campers, helping them maintain optimal health and wellness while at camp.
Specific responsibilities include:
Prior to camp:
review all campers' medical applications and communicate with health care providers as needed; review/edit the camper alert and allergy list and medications list; assist Camp Felix admin staff in ordering all medical supplies and equipment.
Live on-site for the duration of each camp session.
Supervise health and sanitation at camp.
Oversee the implementation of the written safety plan's medical components.
Review and maintain campers' confidential medical records.
Ensure that nurse's office is maintained properly and provides an environment that is neat, clean, professional, and conducive to healing; report maintenance issues to Camp Director immediately to reach resolution.
Oversee the initial health screening (including COVID-19 screening) of campers/staff and daily health surveillance of campers and staff.
Coordinate with contracted COVID-19 testing agency to ensure all campers and staff are following COVID-19 testing policies and procedures.
Follow appropriate health plan for any camper or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19.
Handle health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness procedures and follow up for professional health care.
Facilitate contact with proper health care providers, assure doctor's standing orders are followed.
Maintain camp's daily medical log.
Make appointments, when necessary, with medical personnel in the community.
Check and maintain first-aid kits.
Ensure medications are self-administered to all children as per health care provider's orders.
Ensure all medications and medical supplies are securely stored, properly maintained and packed up at the end of camp (if reusing).
Inform Camp Director of any injuries/diseases so that Health Department can be notified as required.
Participate in end-of-summer inventory process of all medical supplies and equipment.
Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in camp.
Lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health.
Participate in pre-camp training (7 days).
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities (during off periods, mealtime, evening activities, special events, etc) Ensure safety, personal hygiene and physical/emotional well-being of campers.
Helps to prevent dangerous situations by minimizing risks and responding to emergencies as needed.
Work collaboratively with counselors/staff to best meet the needs of the campers.
Assist during mealtime, if necessary.
Assist during transportation to/from camp and/or bus loading/unloading at camp.
Education, experience and special needs required:
BA/BS required; NJ RN License, LPN License, or EMT license required.
Familiarity or experience with summer camps.
Must have at least 2 years clinical experience in pediatrics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be proficient in managing and maintaining confidential medical records.
Updated First Aid and CPR certifications required.
Wilderness training certificate preferred.
Must be able to utilize best safety practices to protect the health of him/herself, other staff, and the campers.
Must be able to work well with other staff and relate well to groups of young people.
Must be available for training week/weekend and all 3 weeks of camp Camp Felix is a sleepaway camp Monday through Friday while camp is in session.
Mandatory Staff Training:
Monday July 31 - Friday August 4th in NYC (9am - 5pm), Saturday Aug 5-6th onsite at Camp Felix in Sandyston, NJ (transportation provided).
Camp sessions:
August 7 - August 11 August 14 - August 18 August 21 - August 25 Job Type:
